Charnwood Community Garden

Research has found numerous benefits to growing, cooking, and eating one’s own food, especially when done as a family or as part of a community. I am thankful for both community gardens in my electorate of Ginninderra. The Charnwood Community Garden is one of the largest in Canberra, with 45 different plots.

Today I spoke in the Assembly to publicly thank the Charnwood Community Garden Committee and convenor Teresa Rose for inviting me to join them this past Sunday in celebrating the completion of their new shelter. I would like to see more community gardens in Canberra, and also the resources needed to help families become more self-reliant by projecting their own food.
