The family is the most important unit of society, and it creates and fosters the values on which a strong and resilient society is built. As Shadow Minister for Families, Youth & Community Services, I seek to strengthen families so that all family members are supported and equipped with tools to help them reach their full potential.

As an MLA, I have had the opportunity to move several motions intended to protect children and build stronger families. These include calling on the ACT Government to:

​

• Strengthen the territory's care and protection system by allowing for the external review of important decisions

• Better equip parents and other primary carers to prevent and, if necessary, respond to child sexual abuse

• Improve data collection for youth recidivism within the ACT

• Engage in comprehensive screening for Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder at the Bimberi Youth Justice Centre
